Carol Turquette Bio
I am so privileged to return as Wolford’s Assistant Principal again this year! I have spent the bulk of my career in the McKinney Independent School District, with only a couple of years spent teaching out of state and in private schools.
I have an undergraduate degree in education from North Texas State University (now UNT) and and graduate degrees from Texas A&M – Commerce and Texas Woman’s University. Prior to becoming an administrator I taught special education and general education, and was an ESL and Dyslexia specialist. My experience runs the gamut from grades PK – 12, with the bulk being in elementary.
My husband and I live in an old house in the Historic District of McKinney with our four rescue dogs – two Maltese (Izzy and Gracie) and two mini Schnauzers (Lulu and Lacey). Of course, since all of our kids are grown and out of the house, they are very spoiled. Doug, my husband, is now retired l and I am still waiting for my honey-do list to become shorter since he has all this spare time on his hands. Something tells me he isn’t in any hurry to get to it! We are both members of the Red River Valley Dulcimer Club and enjoy playing traditional Appalachian music with friends. I also enjoy figure skating and doing a little volunteer work with the Collin County Animal Shelter.
