Heather Capps

Alpha ELAR Teacher

Heather Capps Bio

This job is really a dream come true, and I am very excited to see what is in store for our students this year! I feel doubly blessed to be working with the best students and staff in McKinney here at Webb and to be an ALPHA Teacher as well! I not only get to interact with students at Webb, but I am also privileged to teach elementary kids all throughout McKinney ISD.

I attended Stephen F. Austin State University and actually graduated two days before entering my first classroom as a teacher in Houston, Texas. That year I taught third grade, and I fell deeply in love with learning again, but with a different perspective in mind…my students. I love that each day is a new opportunity to reach a learner!

For the past 20 years, I have had the incredible opportunity to teach 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. My greatest passion is teaching kids how to think critically! And it gives me personal satisfaction to help students break down any kind of learning barriers that allow for them to succeed as critical thinkers! I believe that if you know how to think, then you can just about do ANYTHING!!

As a teacher, mother and a life-long learner myself, my motto and encouragement has and always will be…
“You’ll never make a discovery if you’re afraid to make a mistake!”
