I am from Oklahoma and am an Okie through and through! I grew up in a small town of 1,000 people called Oilton. You will hear many stories about Oilton as I have many memories and unique adventures that took place in the town I will always call home. My parents raised seven kids, I was the baby, and were proud that four of them became educators.
After leaving Oilton for college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, I met my wife of 18 years, Dana. Together, we decided to move to Texas in 1996 to continue my career as a teacher. Since arriving in Texas, I have been blessed with two wonderful boys, Weston, who is nine years old, and Griffin, who is six. They fulfill me and remind me what love is on a daily basis.
I have taught for 19 years! My first year was in Midwest City, Oklahoma teaching fifth grade. After that year, I trucked it down to Texas and worked in Duncanville ISD as a fourth grade science teacher. That is when I truly fell in love with teaching! That year, I was also forced to teach reading and writing starting in the middle of the year. The principal said if I did a good job, I might not have to go back to being a science teacher. Well, 17 years later, I am still a language arts teacher, so I guess things worked out. After Duncanville, I went to work for the Lewisville ISD. I taught there a year and headed to McKinney where I could buy a house that was a little closer to family in Oklahoma. This is my 16th year working in McKinney and 13 of those have been here at Valley Creek.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
