Inetra Nelson Bio

Hello, Mighty Minshew Colts!

I am Inetra Nelson, and I am the proud and thankful principal of the best school community in the universe! I value the opportunity to make an impact on our future and will do my very best to help each young Colt reach their fullest potential.

My entire elementary, middle, and high school years were spent attending McKinney ISD schools. I attended Finch and Burks Elementary, Slaughter Intermediate School, Faubian Jr High, and I graduated from THE McKinney High School. I love to see how McKinney has grown but still has the small-town feel. I truly believe that MISD provides an exceptional educational and personal experience and love the idea of giving back to a community that poured so much into me.

After graduating high school, I received my undergraduate degree, a Bachelor’s Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Texas Tech University. I furthered my educational expertise by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Education Administration at Texas Woman’s University.

I started my teaching career in Coppell, Texas teaching Spanish to Kindergarten through Fifth Graders. I moved on to Plano ISD and taught Third before coming back to my hometown to teach Third Grade at Reuben Johnson Elementary. This experience was special to me for many reasons. RJE was named after a beloved MISD educator who was my very own principal at Burks Elementary. As of today, I have been blessed to serve as assistant principal at Eddins Elementary and Minshew Elementary before becoming the principal of the best school in the universe.

Together we can accomplish amazing things! Thank you for sharing your gifts with me. Let’s have a terrific year!
