Art Club

Sponsor: Mrs. Harres, Art Teacher

Art Club is open to any 4th and 5th-grade students who have a passion for visual arts!  There will be two separate clubs to allow more students to participate.  Space is limited to 20 students each club due to only one teacher and space to create.  5th Grade Art Club and 4th Grade Art Club will meet once a month on Monday afternoons after school from 3-4pm in the art room. Art Club forms will go home the week of September 5th and will be due by September 18th to Mrs. Harres.  There is a supply fee of $22.00 which includes art materials and an art club t-shirt.

Art Club students are expected to help participate in art events as well as diving deeper into art explorations.  5th grade Art Club will begin on October 2nd and 4th grade Art Club will begin on October 16th.  If more than 20 applications per each club, there will be a fair and random drawing of names on live announcements and we will communicate those chosen to all parents and students that turned in forms by the due date. Creativity takes Courage!

Green Team

Sponsor: Ms. Christy, 3rd Grade

Green Team helps students to understand how to live a “Green” life and why we should put in the effort! Students will get their hands on recycling materials and learn how the lack of effort can change their planet and future. Students will help around the McClure campus with Green efforts such as emptying recycling bins, turning off lights and smart boards, and work our school-wide end of the year book swap.

Junior Gardeners

Sponsor: Mrs. Shoemaker, 3rd Grade

The garden is an outdoor classroom where students can enhance their understanding of the form of hands-on gardening. Before school, the club will spruce up our grounds and plant new flowers and plants as well. The students will work together to improve the looks of our school monthly. Students will participate in all aspects of sustainable gardening from planning and planting to harvesting herbs!

The goal of the club is to…

  • Spruce up our school grounds.
  • Establish a network of teachers, students, parents and other community specialists who can work together to create an educational and fun environment for all students to learn.
  • Be able to use our school grounds as an outdoor learning environment.
  • Have fun doing hard work and learning about nature.
  • Meet new friends and have fun outside.

We meet once a month on Tuesday per team in the morning at 7:30.  We will meet all year! A permission slip goes out to 2nd and 3rd graders who are interested the 1st week of school and are due by September 8th. We will have the first team start on September 19th.  Permission slips can be turned into Mrs. Shoemaker.

Safety Patrol

Sponsor: Coach Hood, PE Teacher

Members of our Safety Patrol team assist students at carpool each morning and afternoon. Any 4th or 5th-grade students that are interested in joining Safety Patrol need to attend an informational meeting in the library on Thursday, August 31st from 3:00-3:25.

For those that choose to join, a Safety Patrol Training meeting will be held on Thursday, September 7th from 3:00-3:25 in the library. Parents do not need to attend either meeting. Once we have the names of all students wishing to join, we will form the Safety Patrol Teams. If you need to carpool with someone the weeks your child will serve, please indicate this on the forms that your child turns in to me. Each Team will serve morning and afternoon duty for a week and then have a break for 4-5 weeks. Please plan to pick up your child in the front parking lot by the office after each meeting. IMPORTANT: You must show your carpool number when picking up your child from Safety Patrol meetings and duty.  If you do not have a number, please contact the front office for assistance.
