Shay Washington

Fifth Grade Teacher

Shay Washington Bio

My name is Shay Washington, and I am a fifth grade teacher at Reuben Johnson Elementary. Most of my childhood, I lived Gladewater, Texas. However, before that, I had the opportunity to go to kindergarten through second grade in Japan, a perk from having a father who was in the Air Force. I have a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Degree with a specialization in Early Childhood from Stephan F. Austin State University. This will by my eleventh year in McKinney ISD.  The first four years of my career I taught at Cedar Hill ISD. My previous experience includes infants through second grade. To me, the most important years of school are the elementary years. Those years are upon which all other grades build and students learn the basics that will carry them through their school career.
