Patricia Gerig Bio

Patricia Gerig is serving as the Assistant Principal at Burks Elementary School. Mrs. Gerig began working with children in 1993 for Mt. Pleasant ISD in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was a paraprofessional for four years as she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Bilingual Education. She then returned back to Pittsburg, to start the bilingual program for Pittsburg ISD. She established the bilingual program as she began her teaching career as a bilingual kindergarten teacher. After three years she relocated to McKinney where she was hired to teach first grade. She then became a master teacher for her campus and taught Pre-K through 5th grade students while modeling lessons, coaching and providing professional development for teachers at Webb Elementary. As a master teacher she then joined McKinney ISD’s first graduated cohort where she earned a Master of Education in Administration. In 2006 she took a leap into Curriculum as the Bilingual/ESL Curriculum Coordinator. After three years as a coordinator she took another leap into administration to help open up the first Early Childhood School in McKinney ISD, where she has served as an Assistant Principal for five years. She is a positive force in McKinney ISD and has earned the respect from her peers, teachers, parents and community. In addition she has served as the principal for summer school for six years. She believes every child can and will learn given the opportunity to do so no matter what background or ethnicity. All students need high expectations, security and an understanding that they are being heard. Mrs. Gerig understands that clear communication with students, parents, teachers and community is the key to academic success for all. High standards and academic achievement for all students is her goal!!
